Celebrate Henderson’s Birthday this Sunday

Posted on October 9, 2012 by hchamber

There are several exciting events happening in Henderson on Sunday, October 14.  At 2 pm a dedication service for the newly completed country church and the entire Henderson Mennonite Heritage Park will take place at the Heritage Park Church.  Following the dedication, head to the Heartland School Theater at 3 pm for the official 125th Birthday Party for the City of Henderson.

The completion of the church at Heritage Park anchored at the north end facing the Immigrant House is a significant milestone for the Heritage Park.    Norm Yoder, one of the original members of Henderson Heritage & Tourism, will speak at the dedication service followed by the singing of a few hymns and a dedication prayer.

The public is invited to share in this dedication service that will end around 2:45 pm and then go to the school for the Henderson Birthday party.

The 125th Birthday Celebration will start in the Heartland School Theater with the viewing of the Henderson Centennial video, “Echoes of an Era,” created by Burton Buller 25 years ago.  This video includes footage from the Henderson Centennial as well as history about the community of Henderson.  Following the video there will be time for individuals to share community stories, memories and jokes from the past.      Following the video and story time, a traditional Birthday Party will be held in the cafeteria when birthday cake will be served.

All of the 125th Anniversary memorabilia as well as copies of the Henderson Centennial video will be available for sale during the day as we celebrate the longevity of this community.

Mark your calendar for Sunday, October 14, to attend the Heritage Park Church dedication at 2 pm and the Henderson 125th Birthday Party at 3pm as we continue to honor the past, celebrate the present and export the future.
